Now, I am definitely going to be purchasing this book! I’ve always been interested in the history behind royal mistresses, and Charles II had quite a few of them – all with really interesting and often scandalous lives. Expect lots of juicy details! Release date – 16th April 2020.

One Two Three Four: The Beatles In Time by Craig Brown

I had to throw a light-hearted and entertaining history book into the mix – and this new biography of the Fab Four is just that. It also uses a really wide array of sources to tell the story of the iconic band. The book is shooting up the pre-order chart on Amazon, so order now! Release date – 2nd April 2020.

Historical Fiction

Hamnett by Maggie O’Farrell

Long listed for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, Hamnett is an historical fiction novel inspired by the son of William Shakespeare. It’s described as ‘a tender and unforgettable reimagining of a boy whose life has been all but forgotten, but whose name was given to one of the most celebrated plays ever written’. Release date – 31st March 2020.

 

Execution by S.J.Parris

Execution is the new book in S. J. Parris’ bestselling, critically acclaimed series following Giordano Bruno – a heretic turned spy – set in the time of Queen Elizabeth I.  Its described as pacey, intricate and thrilling. If you love C.J.Sansom’s Shardlake series, then I think you’ll enjoy this book. Release date – 30th April 2020.
