The restored medieval church of Llanfihangel Cefnllys (Church of St Michael of the Ridge Court) stands in a remote countryside location at the foot of Cefnllys Castle, the 13th-century fortress built by Roger Mortimer. It would have been the focal point of the once-flourishing borough that sprung up to serve the castle

You have to cross the river and walk across fields to reach this church but it is worth it. I particularly loved the engraved pulpit dating from 1660 and the ring of ancient yews in the churchyard
