2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War Two. Germany formally surrendered to the Allied forces on May 8th 1845 . In the days that followed, the world learned of the horrors of Auschwitz and other concentration camps.
One of the most famous prisoners of these camps was Anne Frank. Her inspirational biography The Life of Anne Frank is all about a girl who refused to give up hope, even in the darkest of times.
I am a big believer in making history accessible for everyone, so we can all learn lessons from the past. I am therefore so proud to partner with Welbeck Publishing to giveaway a copy of The Life of Anne Frank. I am even prouder to day that this book has been produced in association with The Anne Frank House, the canal house in Amsterdam where Anne’s family hid which is now devoted to telling her story.
The Life of Anne Frank
In 1942, Anne Frank was given the gift of a red-and-white checked diary for her thirteenth birthday. Nearly one month later Anne and her family went into hiding to escape the persecution of the Nazis. This was when the diary of her life in hiding began.
In this new book – which is aimed at older children – you can learn what life was like in the Secret Annex. You can also read about Anne’s thoughts, hopes and dreams of a better future.
The book is packaged in a beautiful slipcase and features a red-and-white checked folder of additional content to personalise. This includes maps, recipes, drawings, letters to the future, story prompts, and much more. It’s designed to help readers to start their own diary and find their own voice.
